Backyard Camping

We decided to dig our tent out and give it some air. Once we had put it up Kassidy would not let us sleep in the house, so we decided to have a little campout. All the kids were so excited they could barely contain themselves. Kassidy was the first one asleep after we all got in the tent and started watching a movie. Kori had a hard time going to sleep, I think she didn't understand the campout thing. Maybe next time she'll understand. Harris had fun walking and crawling through the tent.

Harris is One! Its hard to believe a year ago Harris weight only 5 lbs and was the tiniest baby I had ever seen. He is getting so big. He loves his mommy very much and likes to snuggle me in the morning. He is a boy's boy, if there are cars or balls or electronics around you will find Harris not too far away. He is gorgeous! He has the prettiest eyes, I'm sure he will get all the girls.

Kisses

One thing our girls like to do is kiss Harris. They are in a stage right now where everything is a competition, anytime one does something the other has to out do them. Anyway Kassidy gave Harris a kiss on the forhead and Kori wiped it off, then Kassidy kissed him again and Kori wiped it off. This went on for about 5 minutes. Finally Kassidy told me " Kori keeps wiping my kisses off Harris". I was trying to think quickly, I told her you can't wipe kisses away so even though Kori was trying to wipe the kisses away they were still there. Kassidy kissed Harris one last time and Kori wiped it away and Kassidy said" Mom my kiss is still there, Kori didn't wipe it away". I thought this was the cutest lesson I had taught Kassidy lately. The magic of a kiss.

It is hard to believe that Kori is two years old! With finances the way they are right now we weren't able to give Kori all we think she deserves, luckily she is young enough she probably won't remember. Although presents were in short supply we did get a cake (mine always look like crap). I took her to Walmart and let her pick the cake she wanted. She chose a three princess's cake where one lights up. She was extremely excited she kept singing Happy Birthday all week. She loved the cake and she said "kori's bday", "I'm cited". We had so much fun and I hope she had the best bday ever!

While we were at WalMart tonight, Kassidy saw a pretty pink box that caught her eye. Fascinated by it's beautiful packaging, she picked it up to get a better look. "I want these." she said. Kathryn and I looked to see what she was holding and discovered that our 3 year old daughter had decided she wanted some stick on boobs. Then she said, "They're for your head."

Tonight Kathryn was putting a movie on for the girls to watch before going to bed. While she was adjusting the volume, Kathryn was standing in front of the television. Kassidy said, "You have a big head!" It was so funny.

Since Kassidy was a baby we have been singing her a song that spells out her name, this was the first time she got it all by herself! We are so proud!

Scissors

So... I had gotten the kids dressed and fed and changed and decided that I needed I tiny cat nap. I don't even think I had fallen asleep yet when I heard nothing, pure silence, mother's of the world know this is the worst sound you can hear all day because it usually mean mischief. I decided to interrupt my rest and go see why the girl's had gotten so quiet and then Kassidy looked at me. Her bangs were missing!! It took me a few moments to realize what had happened and then I saw the scissors lying on the floor next to the girls. Then I noticed that Kassidy was not the only one missing hair, Kori had also had a chunk of hair cut away. I freaked out, they got time out while mommy figured out how in the world they had gotten a hold of the scissors. As the oldest of nine I am familiar with girls' obsession with scissors and thus always make sure that they are put out of reach. I didn't factor in that Kassidy is very resourceful and has a sturdy stool. Needless to say the scissors were not far enough out of reach. It took a year and a half to grow out Kassidy's bangs and now I get to start from scratch, Kori's is less noticeable because of the thickness of her hair it will be easy to disguise. We have all learned a valuable lesson, Mine: Nothing is ever out of reach for a three year old.

Busy Boy

Tonight was bath night at the Potter House. I was bathing the girls and decided to wait to bath Harris till tomorrow night. At least that was the plan... I put the girls in and then started to dress Harris in his pajamas. He started crying and I didn't know why, he kept looking over my shoulder at the girls playing in the tub. Daddy asked him if he wanted to bath and he got this huge grin and started kicking his feet really hard. It was the funniest thing he did not want to miss out on the fun. Once in the tub he was the happiest baby. He had fun splashing his sisters and eating their hair. I love how close our kids are. I know it won't last forever but its fun right now.
