How I Met Your Mother

I will never forget the day I met Kathryn. Little did I know, that on that blessed day, the rest of my life would never be the same. I have had the best life since she came into it. It was September of 2000. I had just moved back to Houston from Arizona and had nothing to do. My ex-girlfriend called me up because she was the young single adult president and she wanted me to go to a singles activity at the home of one of the other singles. Since I was not actively practicing the Mormon religion, and also since we were no longer dating, I really did not want to go. I tried everything to get out of going, yet some how she convinced me to go anyway. Sometimes persistence can be really annoying. On the other hand, however, it was because of not only my ex-girlfriend's persistence, but Kathryn's as well that we ended up being together forever. I drove to the activity and parked on the street right behind a car with Utah plates and a UK (University of Kentucky) sticker in the window. Since I had served my mission in Kentucky and had many companions and friends from Utah, I was really interested in meeting the person from Utah who was so proudly displaying UK. I figured we would have a lot to talk about. As soon as I got into the activity, I immediately asked whose car it was and it ended up being Kathryn's. She has also just moved back to Houston from Utah. The UK sticker was because her dad had gone to school there, and they lived there for several years. We spent the entire night talking to each other and basically ignoring everyone else that was there. After that night, Kathryn continued calling me to go out, or showing up to my work to say hi. It is all because of her persistence that we stayed friends. It is funny how fate, or destiny, or God (whatever you want to call it) works. So many things had to happen exactly right for us to have met. If I had not given in to my ex-girlfriend, I would have never been at that activity. If Kathryn's dad had not gone to UK, I would not have been inspired to ask who's car it was. If I had not served a mission, or had gone somewhere besides Kentucky, I would not have even cared about the UK sticker. We have since discovered about a million things that help connect me and Kathryn. There are too many to list. Without all these little things, we would not be together, and have our 3 amazing children. I am so grateful to God for that day in my life. I have been greatly blessed since Kathryn came into my life. I can not imagine where I would have ended up if I had not met her. Together, we have come so far. I love her more than any other person on the planet, and she is one of the only people who doesn't drive me absolutely insane, ever.

OH MY GOSH, that has to be one of the best stories... so sweet Keith! You guys are very lucky to have each other and to still be so in love. That is amazing! Most people these days give up when it gets hard or on those rare days we don't like what the other one is doing.
I hope to meet your loving wife very soon. I think you guys would really like Ricardo.

All my love,
Rebecca
